ATOChecks – Fast lodgment readiness verification

Tired of waiting for the ATO to verify your tax return?

With our new ATOChecks application, tax agents can check the data and status of individual tax return lodgments. On a single page, you can see all returns and their lodgment status, tax estimate and refund status.

Save time and maintain your professional standing by avoiding the embarrassment of the ATO giving you a different estimate than your software calculations. ATOChecks gives you the tools to validate the return amount before you contact the client.

This service streamlines the tax return process and is particularly valuable for minimising inefficient visits to the ATO online services, as this app allows you to upload in bulk and then sort the details however you want.

ATOChecks is an add-on service to your existing GovReports subscription; tax agents without a GovReports account can subscribe to it as a standalone application.

Annual fee $199, plus 20 cents per tax return check. Buy prepaid credits from $50 (or more), which give you 250 tax return checks.

ATO Payment Plans Now Available

Great news! Registered agents can now access clients’ ATO payment plans directly from GovReports.

  • View or edit existing payment plans and create new plans from the client details screen.
  • Payments scheduled and made are immediately visible, allowing you to reconcile them to the Integrated Client Account for BAS or tax payments.
  • Set up or cancel direct debits, view the payment reference number, and immediately access all details,includingthe amount and duration of the plan.

To access these features, please navigate to Clients > open client record > ATO Accounts tab and sync the accounts. You will notice two additional columns: “Payment Reference Number” and “Payment Plan.” Please note that the payment plan option will appear only ifthe client meets the eligibility criteria.

Select View to access the payment plans.

Select View Plan to review details of active plans and update the plan or change payment details.

We think you’ll find it much easier and more efficient to stay abreast of ATO client payment planswith this user-friendly and practical tool.

ATO Client Communications – Upgraded Security

We have improved the security and audit trail of the ATO client communications, providing greater transparency into who has accessed messages. You can now see an audit trail of who accessed which report,along with the date and time of access.

By the way, did you know, our system is a secure retrieval from the ATO – meaning we cannot access the data. Only the agent who has ATO authorised access can see the ATO client communications.

You can access the ATO client communications in two ways: either by a single client or by viewing all records, which can be filtered.

For a single client’s communications, go to the client details screen, then the ATO Communication tab to see the ATO’s messages for that client. From here, view, download or email the message to the client.

To see all ATO communications, go to the ATO Reports menu > ATO Client Communication > view ATO Client Communication Records. This screen allows you to sort communications by read or unread, client name, issue date, or subject to find what you are looking for easily.

From the Action menu, expand it to see available functions: download, email, archive, or mark as read/unread.

Select the message to see the details.

To view the access audit log, select the clock icon in the top-right corner. The activity log will show the name of the person who accessed, downloaded, or emailed the message, as well as the time and date.
